Birthing with Sound

Preparing for birth through sound, voice & breath

A 4-week course for couples, exploring how breath, voice, and sound can support the nervous system through pregnancy, labour, and birth.

Combining modern neuroscience with ancient practices, you'll learn practical tools to help you stay grounded, connected and responsive to your body as labour unfolds, while discovering how your partner can actively support you along the way.

Each session combines education, practical exploration, and a guided meditation, closing with a live sound bath.

4 weeks · 90 minutes / session · In person · Small group classes · $350 per couple

Why This Course?

Fear creates tension. Tension can amplify pain. Pain can deepen fear.

The nervous system plays an important role in how we experience labour. When we feel safe and supported, the body has more opportunity to soften, breathe and work with the sensations of birth.

Through breath, voice, sound and rhythm, you’ll learn simple ways to create that sense of safety and stay connected to your body when intensity rises.

This isn’t about promising a pain-free birth or trying to control how your labour unfolds. It’s about practising before you need the tools, and building confidence in your ability to meet whatever comes.

The Course

Week One — Understand Your Nervous System

Explore the fear–tension–pain cycle and the relationship between your nervous system, breath, jaw, throat and pelvic floor. You’ll learn simple practices to help your body soften and settle, while your partner learns how to create a calm, supportive presence.

Week Two — Your Voice & The Crystal Bowl

Discover your voice as a practical tool for labour. You’ll explore humming, open vowel sounds and the toning wave, as well as using the crystal singing bowl as a steady, grounding sound to follow.

Week Three — The Drum

Explore the power of rhythm, grounding and movement as labour intensifies. You’ll learn how a steady beat can provide an anchor, support an inward state and give your body something familiar to follow. You’ll also explore ways your partner can use rhythm to support you through labour.

Week Four — Your Voice, Your Birth

Bring everything together and create your personal Birthing with Sound Toolkit. You’ll explore breath, vocal sounds, rhythm, movement, recordings, birth preferences and the role your partner can play, leaving with practical tools you can take into your birth room.

What You'll Leave With

By the end of the course, you’ll have:

  • Practical breathing and vocal practices for labour

  • Your own sounds and rhythms to return to when intensity rises

  • Tools for grounding and staying connected to your body

  • Ideas for sound and recordings to take into your birth environment

  • A personalised birth preferences framework

  • Practical ways for your partner to support you

  • The confidence that comes from practising these tools together before birth

Your partner won't just know what to do. They'll have practised how to support you.

Who It's For

For women who want more than a birth class.

For women who want practical tools they can carry into labour.

For women who want to explore birth through the body, rather than only through information.

For women who feel nervous about labour and want to understand how their nervous system responds to fear, safety and support.

For women who want to explore their voice without needing to be musical or confident.

And for partners who want a meaningful role in the room — not just to watch and wait.

You don’t need to know exactly what kind of birth you’ll have. You simply need to be curious about your body and willing to explore what helps you feel safe, grounded and supported.

A Complement to Your Antenatal Care

Birthing with Sound is not a replacement for antenatal education, midwifery care or medical care.

It is a focused space to explore breath, voice, rhythm and sound as tools for labour and birth, alongside the care and support you already receive.

There is no promise of a particular birth outcome, and no expectation that you will use every tool you learn.

The aim is not to control your birth. It’s to help you feel prepared to meet it.

Ready to Prepare for Birth Differently?

Four weeks to explore your breath, your voice, your body and the person beside you. Come as you are. No singing experience. No perfect birth plan. No right way to sound. Just a space to practise, connect and build tools you can carry with you into birth.

Have questions, want to reserve a spot, or interested in a different date? Get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Are you a midwife, doula or other birth professional? I’m always glad to connect, collaborate and chat about how Birthing with Sound might complement the support you already provide. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Why I Created This Course

IMG_6575_Original.jpg

My first birth was traumatic. Not because of what happened medically, but because of how it felt. I didn’t feel listened to, trusted or supported. I felt managed. I came away feeling disappointed, angry and disconnected from my body and from my experience of giving birth.

For my second birth, I discovered hypnobirthing and everything shifted. I felt calm, capable and confident. I was present, active and embodied; participating in my birth rather than simply enduring something that was happening to me.

After experiencing two very different births, I became passionate about helping other women feel more empowered in theirs. When I discovered sound healing, I knew I had found a way to bring that passion into the birth space.

During my sound healing studies, I specialised in sound during pregnancy and immersed myself in the research and practices surrounding sound, voice, breath and birth. Birthing with Sound grew from that exploration.

At its heart, this course is about helping you feel informed, connected and empowered, giving you practical tools to find your voice and trust the wisdom of your body.

And because birth is not something you have to navigate alone, the course is designed to be explored together. Partners learn alongside you, discovering practical ways to listen, connect and support you through birth.

My hope is that you walk into birth feeling less like your body is something to be managed, and more like it is something you can trust.
